Ashington is a town in the county of Northumberland in the north east of England. The town is situated 15 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne and is 3 miles away from the North Sea to the east.

The closest station servicing this town is Pegswood railway station which lies on the East Coast Main Line and is managed by Northern. Northern operates two southbound trains and one northbound train per day. Southbound services provide a commuter link to Newcastle Central and northbound from Pegswood to Widdrington, Acklington, Alnmouth and Chathill.
