Carshalton is a town in south London, historically a part of Surrey but is now a part of the London Borough of Sutton. This town is situated in the valley of the River Wandle, located 9.5 miles south-southwest of Charing cross.
This area is serviced by Carshalton railway station and this station is managed by Southern. This station operates 4 trains per hour (tph) to London Victoria, 2 semi-fast via Balham and Clapham junction and 2 fast calling only at Clapham Junction. Thameslink also runs a 2 tph service to Wimbledon via Sutton along the Thameslink Loop.
This area is very close to Sutton and Sutton High street and the surrounding areas are known as the sixth most important shopping area in London, many familiar high street favourites can be found along this mainly pedestrianized area, as well as banks, building societies and estate agents. The high street is home to two covered shopping centres that are situated at the heart of this retail area, with several other stores and boutiques placed up and down the almost a mile-long stretch from Sutton Green to Sutton station. Sutton has a range of restaurants, patisseries, gastropubs and bars, the pedestrianisation of this area allowing for extra space for outdoor seating areas in the summer. Alternatively, the city of London is a short trip from this area and can cater to all of one’s retail or dining needs.
