Hatfield is a town in Hertfordshire, England and lies around 20 miles north of London. It is located near the A1(M) connecting it to the M25 and M1.
Hatfield railway station is on the East Coast Main Line from London to York. Southbound trains run to London King’s Cross in around 21 minutes, via Finsbury Park (16 minutes, Victoria Line underground station) and there is also a stopping service to Moorgate. Northbound train services go to Cambridge and there is also a stopping service to Welwyn Garden City.
Some of the local attractions include Hatfield Park which is home to Hatfield House, an ornate Jacobean mansion and gardens which was once the home of Queen Elizabeth I, Mill Green Museum and Mill, Heartwood Forest, Ellenbrook Fields and De Havilland Aircraft Museum.
The town is also home to a contemporary Art and Design Gallery, The Weston Auditorium theatre and a music venue The Forum Hertfordshire. The Galleria, an indoor shopping mall, includes outlet shops, high street names, restaurants, bars and a cinema.
The University of Hertfordshire is based here and its de Havilland Campus as well as the Sports village were opened in 2003. The Royal Veterinary College has its equine branch base in Hatfield too.
With its close proximity to the capital and excellent transport connections Hatfield has become a popular commuter town over the years.
