Hackney is a London borough in Inner London, with its administrative headquarter in Mare Street, 5 miles north-east of Charing Cross. It is considered as being in East London.

Hackney is bound by Islington to the west, Haringey to the north, Waltham Forest to the north-east, Newham to the east, Tower Hamlets to the south-east and the City of London to the south-west.

Hackney has many local attractions and institutions such as the National Centre of Circus Arts, Geffrye Museum, Hackney Empire, Hackney City Farm, Rio Cinema, Shoreditch Town Hall, Abney Park Cemetery, to name a few.

The green spaces within Hackney include Clissold Park, Woodberry Reservoirs, Springfield Park, Hackney Marshes, Wick Woodland, Hackney Downs, London Fields and some smaller greens. Several venues of the 2012 London Olympics also fall within Hackney’s boundaries.
