About Tooting, LB of Wandsworth

Tooting is a district in South London and mainly located in the London Borough of Wandsworth and partially in the London Borough of Merton. It is about 5 miles south-west of Charing Cross.

Tooting is on the Northern line of the London Underground and has two stations, Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway. Tooting railway station is on the Sutton Loop Line and runs Thameslink services. It goes south to Sutton via Wimbledon and north to Farringdon, Kings Cross St Pancras and Luton. All three stations are in Travelcard Zone 3. There are several bus routes which go through Tooting linking it to Central London, Croydon, Sutton and Kingston.

The area is great for foodies with a growing number of gastropubs offering the best in modern dining, as well as numerous south Asian restaurants. Tooting Market also has several eateries as well as shops selling vintage clothes, furniture and African art. Tooting boasts two commons, Tooting Bec Common and Tooting Graveney Common. Both are recognised as a Site of Metropolitan importance for Greater London as they include several rare wildlife habitats. Tooting Bec lido is located here, a grade II-listed art deco swimming pool and England’s largest freshwater swimming pool.
