Stratford is a district in east London which lies around 6 miles east of Charing Cross.
The area saw a big transformation when works of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for the 2012 Summer Olympics started. In 2011 Westfield Stratford City shopping centre opened its doors, offering a big range of retailers as well as restaurant outlets, a cinema and casino. Regeneration in the area also brought new housing, jobs, schools and new amenities for local people.
Stratford has an extensive transport network and is served by six stations covering a large catchment area. Stratford is also served by the Central and Jubilee lines of the London Underground and the DLR, connecting the area to the rest of the capital. There are also numerous London bus routes going through Stratford as well as National Express and Megabus services from Stratford City bus station.
