About Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside

Newton-le-Willows is a small but affluent market town in north west England. It lies halfway between Liverpool and Manchester, around 20 miles from each, around 8 miles south of Wigan and 6 miles north of Warrington.

The town has become a commuter town over time as it’s ideally located with the M6 and M62 motorways passing by as well as the A580 East Lancashire Road. The M6 starts near Rugby, passing Stoke-on-Trent, Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, Lancaster, Carlisle and finally terminating at Gretna. The M62 runs from Liverpool and Hull via Manchester and Leeds.

Newton-le-Willows railway station and nearby Earlestown railway station are well connected with regular trains running to Liverpool and Manchester, St Helens, Warrington, Chester, West Yorkshire and to Llandudno in Wales.

The town comprises of four districts, Earlestown, Wargrave, Vulcan Village and the ancient Newton in Makerfield area. The town centre is now located in Earlestown district, where the main shopping street is Market Street. The shopping area is made up of Bridge Street, Oxford Street, Queen Street and Earle Street.
