Nottingham is a city in the county of Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands. It is situated 45 miles northeast of Birmingham, 56 miles southeast of Manchester and 128 miles north of London.
The main station servicing this city is Nottingham Station and is managed by East Midland Trains. This station acts as the terminus for many of the lines it runs to locations across the country. East Midland Trains operates the majority of services from this station along the Midland Main Line. East Midland runs 2 trains per hour (tph) to London St Pancras, one of which is a fast train and makes only three stops before St Pancras. In addition, East Midlands run 1 tph to Liverpool Lime street via Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly, as well as other nationwide destinations. CrossCountry runs lines from Cardiff-Nottingham, Birmingham-Nottingham and a limited service from Bournemouth-Nottingham. Northern also operates a service from Nottingham-Leeds and another limited service from Nottingham-Sheffield via Derby. Nottingham also features the Nottingham Express Transit which is one of the 7 remaining tram systems in the UK. This system has over 50 tram stops throughout the city of Nottingham, providing quick and regular transport links around the city.

Visitors to this buzzing tourist destination spent over £1.8bn in 2017 and the city centre was voted the 5th in Experian’s list of the top of 15 UK retail areas. The heart of this retail centre is based on Bridlesmith Gate which is home to high fashion names such as Ted Baker, Kurt Geiger and Hugo Boss. The two main shopping centres are the Intu Victoria Centre and Intu Broadmarsh, between the two of these shopping centres there are over 175 stores and services, including all well-known high street brands. This area also has a large variety of pubs, bars, nightclubs and hundreds of restaurants serving cuisine from across the globe.
There are numerous job opportunities in the city of Nottingham as it is home to the headquarters of several companies such as Alliance Boots, Experian, E. ON UK, Siemens, Vision Express and many more.
Nottingham has over 61,000 students spread over the two universities, University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University, both of which have campuses across the city. There are also many further education institutes in this area such as the Bilborough College, Central College and New College.
