Walton-on-Thames is a market town in Surrey, England. It lies about 15 miles southwest of Central London.
The town’s railway station is serviced by South Western Railway and trains run from London Waterloo to Woking and Basingstoke. During rush hour there are several fast trains per hour. Some trains also extend to Guildford and Portsmouth Harbour.
In the town centre one can find the Heart Shopping Centre, which has a range of well-known chain retailers, casual eateries and a free ping-pong area.
Walton is ideally located for walks along the river and boat trips on the river by the marina. Whilst the Elmbridge Xcel Leisure complex boasts a swimming pool, health and fitness suite, climbing wall, squash and badminton courts, kid’s multi-storey indoor play area and an indoor bowls hall. The Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre offers a multitude of events all year, including drama, music, children’s shows, cabaret, art exhibitions as well as arts and crafts classes for all ages.
Other nearby attractions include Chessington World of Adventures, Mercedez-Benz World, RHS Garden Wisley, Claremont Landscape Garden and Thorpe Park. There are also two horse racecourses in the area, Sandown Park and Kempton Park.
From Walton one can easily travel for days out to Reigate, East Grinstead, Weybridge, North Downs, Farnham and Guildford to name a few.
