About Westbury, Wiltshire

Westbury is a market town in Wiltshire in the south-west of England. It is located on the north-west edge of Salisbury Plain and is most famous for the Westbury White Horse.

It lies around 16 miles south of Bath, 28 miles north of Salisbury and 17 miles south of Chippenham. The towns of Trowbridge and Warminster lie around 5 miles to the south and 4.5 miles north respectively.

The A350 passes through town and offers a fast route to the M4 motorway connecting it to London and South Wales.

Westbury railway station is at the point where the Reading to Taunton line crosses with the Wessex Main Line, an important junction on the railway network. The town is thus linked to services from London Paddington to Penzance, Bristol and Bath Spa to Salisbury, and Southampton to London Waterloo. Trains to London take around 1 hour 26 minutes.

Some of the areas attractions include the Westbury White Horse, Longleat Safari and Adventure Park, Brokerswood Country Park, Clanger Wood, Center Parcs Longleat, the National Trust’s Westwood Manor and Stonehenge. Set in beautiful countryside these offer plenty of opportunities for walks, bike rides and hiking.

Westbury has one infant school, a junior school, two primary schools and one secondary school. Further education is provided by Wiltshire College which has a campus at Trowbridge around 4.5 miles north of Westbury and the University of Bath is around 18 miles to the north-west.
