About Widnes, Cheshire

Widnes is a town in Cheshire, England on the northern bank of the River Mersey, directly across from Runcorn. Warrington is around 8 miles to the east and Speke, a part of Liverpool, is around 4 miles west.

Widnes is well connected via road network with the A562 going through the town connecting it to Liverpool and the M57 and M62 motorways.

Northern run regular services to Liverpool and Manchester city centre from both stations whilst East Midlands Railway connect Widnes with hourly services to Liverpool, Manchester, Stockport, Sheffield, Nottingham and Norwich. Typically passengers travelling to and from London, the Midlands and the South tend to travel to Runcorn station instead and make the short journey across the Mersey Gateway Bridge by bus or taxi.
